Just over a week ago I was speaking on a panel at the Somesso conference and obviously getting things in place for me to come out to San Francisco for Google I/O has slowed down me gathering some thoughts about the conference.
I thought it was an excellent and thought provoking event. The stand out talks were really the ones which encouraged me to get involved, Stowe Boyd, Lee Bryant and Umair Haque.
Stowe’s talk is online now, embedded below. Hopefully they’ll put up Lee’s and Umair’s sometime soon. Umair’s was memorable partially for the use of Prezi (had to really concentrate on what was being said rather than just be wowed by the swirly/zoomy effects. Thanks to Andrea Vascellari for putting Stowe’s up.
Merran Wrigley from Sony Ericsson did a great talk about their use of social media in the launch of the Experia X1 and Andy Piper from IBM was very interesting, especially when talking about his history of blogging within IBM.
The panel went pretty well, at the moment the video is not there yet, but from the pictures I’ve seen I need to stop slouching.
Karen Barber from AudioBoo caught me after the event for a quick Boo where I hopefully made some sense about my worries about businesses not really embracing social within the firewall and some thoughts on the day.
Oh and my absolute favourite moment… seeing Stowe Boyd, albeit in the posh seats, at The Emirates.
