“I’ll put you down for Wuthering Heights” / Sep 27th 2008

On the train back to Clapham Junction from Richmond I saw the most wonderful example of socialising around real world objects; my latest observation and analysis fascination obsession. There was a group of 8 people passing round a piece of paper which if I’d not seemed like a stalker I’d have photographed in an instant. They were laughing and joking about song titles written on the paper and then starting to sing the songs, challenge each other to do those songs later and in some cases say that the song was a bad idea. It was friends on the way to karaoke and I really enjoyed being a fly on the wall. It was just the sort of wonderful sustainable social action I’d love to replicate in a social app. They’d all been as a group before, had picked songs to sing together, talked about who they’d invited who couldn’t come and were discussing who should sing which songs. I’ll put you down for Wuthering Heights was the highlight of my evening, maybe not theirs, or maybe it was.
